Everything beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, but also understands the importance of making your session location practicle and stress free for your fmaily, I have included my top favorite locations for your family/newborn/maternity sessions. Lake and Field in Moncks Corner

This specific location is actually in my neighborhood and I LOVE the dreamy lighting that shines through the trees and hits the lake perfectly! Here are the pro's and con's:

PROS: Super easy to get to, no crowds, gorgeous scenery

CONS: This location can get pretty buggy during the warmer months, and during the cooler months the greenery dies.

Hampton Park

Hampton Park is one of my all time favorite locations in the Charleston area. Here are the pro's and con's:

PROS: Florals, gardens, gazebos, a little lake, a bridge, perfect lighting through trees... need I say more?

CONS: Bugs in the Summer, dead trees in the winter, homeless people and several other photographers with their clients year round.

The Beach

I started my career as a family beach photographer in Florida and will forever love all of my beach sessions. Here are some pro's and con's:

PROS: Well, it's gorgeous. There's a lot of space, and you can bring your puppers!

CONS: Sand, ocassional harsh light, and wind

Downtown Charleston

I moved here because of how gorgeous this historical city is! I am in love with every aspect of it! Here are some pro's and con's from a photographer's perspective:

PROS: Insanely gorgeous architecture unlike anywhere else in the United States, Cobblestone roads, and earlier session times due to the buildings blocking harsh light earlier in the afternoon. If you don't want to wait until golden hour for your session (the hour before sunset), then I highly recommend considering downtown.

CONS: The city is always busy with tourists, locals, and other photographers. If you prefer more privacy, or don't enjoy crowds, I would not recommend a downtown session. Oh, and the parking isn't always ideal with little ones.

At home lifestyle session

I love all of the locations I have listed, but this one might be my favorite of all. In home lifestyle sessions really bring out a different level of intimacy and "real" that the other locations simply cannot.

PROS: It is the most convenient to YOU! You don't have to travel anywhere for the session. This is especially ideal if you have a newborn, an introverted spouse, or toddlers that are hard to get out the door!

CONS: Although you do NOT need a perfect or super clean home for this, you do need to have natural light. If you have a particularly dark home, I would not recommend this as an option.

Okay, so there you have it. These are by far my favorite locations for family/maternity/newborn sessions in the general Charleston area. Charleston has so many other options in terms of gorgeous scenery that I am happy to explore for you! The perk to all fo these locations is that none of them require additional permits, so there is no added costs to shooting here.
